Photography Exposed
Students will begin the course based on their answers to these two questions: Why do you take photographs? and What do you want to learn? From there, we will discuss what makes a photograph resonate with the viewer based on its aesthetic value and/or underlying message. There will be an overview of various types of photography we encounter each day- Documentary, Reportage, Fashion, Travel, Commercial, Fine Art, etc. – and some photographers who are well known within each genre.
In addition to reviewing the above topics, we will experiment with shooting and framing techniques. A course goal is to free each student of the auto setting, and show them how to use manual features on their camera to get the image results they want.
