Photography Exposed
This course will teach students how to turn the automatic function of their digital cameras off; and start using all the bells and whistles to their full, creative advantage. Each week, we will review historical chapters of/and contributers to photography. In doing so, we will discuss what it is that makes a photograph successful, including: composition, lighting, atmosphere, and metaphor. As we focus our lens' weekly on new subject matter, we will engage in critiques designed to encourage absorption of the material as well as aesthetic dialogue. By the end of the course, each student will understand how to control their SLR camera to take the photos they want, without photo editing afterward. Most importantly, at the end of six weeks, each student will have a better understanding of themselves and the world around them through the scope of the lens.
